Service Outreach Opportunities

Please join us on Sundays from 9 am – 12 pm for the Sunday ‘SERVICE’ Food Collection held for Calvary Episcopal Church and its food pantry ministry. You are invited to drive through and drop off your food offerings.  You may also leave your offering envelope, pick up a bulletin, and get a copy of Forward Day by Day. Most Sundays there is some form of music (the Schola and/or the organ) in the church at 10:30 a.m. Come stay for a while or drive through. We would love to see you.

Your donations for Calvary Episcopal Food Pantry help SERVE our community. Did you know that if you can not come by St. Paul’s to drop off food items, you can always donate as an outreach to Calvary. We collect money/checks or gift cards for Calvary and send them to them when we get a significant amount.  So next time you send your contribution or pledge to St. Paul’s, you can send in a donation marked, ‘Calvary food pantry” and we will make sure to get it to them.

We welcome your donations throughout the week too.  Please call the church office to arrange a drop-off appointment.

Prayer Quilt Members

Over 50 years ago, several women gathered at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church to make Prayer Blankets to comfort patients at Norton’s Hospital in downtown Louisville, Ky.  The blankets were made by cutting donated cotton fabrics into squares, sewing squares into a simple quilt design, and finally assembling the top to the batting and the back.  Today the quilts are assembled the same way and are donated to Norton’s. Our ministry meets at 10:30 AM on the second Monday of each month at a member’s home. During the get-together, the members finish quilts by hand tying the quilt layers together and preparing them to deliver them to the hospitals.  Our gathering ends by sharing a lunch that is provided by one of the members.

Please take a moment to meet Nancy who did the beautiful needlework in the photo.  Nancy also knits and designs a Hardangar Norwegian pattern for a small table piece which is done in a folk embroidery needlepoint, counted cross stitch, crewel, and painting.  Nancy enjoys keeping her hands and mind busy while she sits.

St. Paul’s has many talented people in our congregation.  We will be featuring them and their crafts in the future.
