Two-Year Olds

Two Year Olds

Two Year Olds, by nature, are inquisitive and curious.  We nurture this curiosity by allowing them the freedom to explore our classrooms.  We offer Two Day and Three Day Two Year Old classes. The goal of these classes is to allow the children to gain the security of their first school experience with the knowledge that the teachers care for them and that school is a fun place to be.  The curriculum goals are set to build self-confidence with self-assurance.  We accomplish these goals by:

  • Providing a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.
  • Giving the children the opportunity to make mistakes and then watch for the child to problem-solve independently, assisting as needed.
  • Providing opportunities to learn via engaging activities that build fine and gross motor, beginning literacy, and independent thinking skills. You will see these skills developed through the use of puzzles, blocks, art, sensory play, books, songs, and music.
  • Planning for free play and exploration.  These are a big part of the day for our Two’s. Playground time is vigorous and big time fun!

Three-Year Olds

Three Year Olds

As a child moves into a Three Year Old class, we are committed to helping him/her grow and progress over time.  We offer Two Day and Three Day Three Year Old classes.  Both classes use a variety of elements and approaches to provide a day filled with hands-on learning and creative centers.  Following the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards, our curriculum invites children to explore and learn through the use of Alpha Tales and elements of the High Scope curricula.  Our thematic approach to learning gives a purpose and inquisitively fun approach to exploring learning in the room.  We accomplish those goals by:

  • Providing a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.
  • Having access to open art centers daily.  The children are free to choose from a variety of art media: clay/dough, paints, markers, chalk, crayons, stencils, etc.
  • Extending learning opportunities by playing cooperatively on the expansive playground and school grounds.

Pre-K

Pre-K

Four Year Olds show an excitement for learning and know they are maturing!  They can understand complex and involved curriculum.  We offer Three Day and Five Day Pre-K options.  Both classes use a variety of elements and approaches to provide a day filled with hands-on learning and creative centers.

Our curriculum includes elements from HighScope, Learning Without Tears, Alpha Time, Touch Math, and Mindful Kids.  Each lesson plan is created to align with the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards.

Kindergarten preparation is a focus, along with a greater sense of self and coming to terms with being good steward of “school” for each child.  Holding classroom jobs and communication with friends are key to navigating the society of a classroom environment.  The children gain skills in public speaking, self-control as a result of our new Mindful Kids program, and they work their bodies with large motor movement on our playground.

We accomplish those goals by:

  • Providing a safe, loving, nurturing environment.
  • Providing a variety of books, songs, learning centers, sensory activities, and art to create an environment children willingly want to participate and engage in daily.
  • Having access to open art centers daily.  The children are free to choose from variety of art media:  clay/dough, paints, markers, chalk, crayons, stencils, etc.
  • Participating in small group instructions in areas of Language Arts and Math.
  • Extending learning opportunities by playing cooperatively on the expansive playground and school grounds.

NTI Support Class

NTI Support Class

St. Paul’s is proud to announce the development of our first Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Support class for 2020-2021.  This class is open to school-age children and is geared toward the primary (K-2nd) grades.

School-age children are expected to have an increased level of independence while still needing the structure and support of their classrooms and teachers.  Our goal is to help enrolled students navigate the new reality of NTI by assisting them in the completion of the assignments given by their respective elementary schools.

The NTI class meets Monday through Friday from 9:00-1:30, allowing these children to participate in a longer school day than our Preschool classes.  The NTI students will eat lunch at St. Paul’s and still get to enjoy ample time on our wonderful playground.  When not actively engaged in NTI work, students will benefit from “free choice time.”  Our center-based classroom is full of developmentally appropriate materials to further their learning through hands-on experiences and play.

We accomplish our goals for these students by:

  • Providing a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.
  • Providing a small group setting to allow for the organization and execution of NTI programming from a variety of elementary schools.
  • Providing a variety of books, learning centers, sensory activities, and art to create an environment children willingly want to participate and engage in daily.
  • Having access to open art centers daily.  The children are free to choose from a variety of art media:  clay/dough, paints, markers, chalk, crayons, stencils, etc.
  • Extending learning opportunities by playing cooperatively on the expansive playground and school grounds.
