Prayer Quilt

Prayer Quilt

Over 50 years ago, several women gathered at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church to make Prayer Blankets to comfort patients at Norton’s Hospital in downtown Louisville, Ky.  The blankets were made by cutting donated cotton fabrics into squares, sewing squares into a simple quilt design, and finally assembling the top to the batting and a back.  Today the quilts are assembled the same way and are donated to Norton’s and Baptist East Hospital at Kresge Way. Our ministry meets at 10:30 AM on the second Monday each month at a member’s home. During the get together the members finish quilts by hand tying the quilt layers together and prepare them to deliver them to the hospitals.  Our gathering ends by sharing a lunch that is provided by one of the members.

Westminster Singing

Westminster Singing

Music Ministry at Westminster Health Care Center

In March of 2014, the then St. Alban’s Choir began singing at Westminster Health Care Center once a month as a way to give to our Community. It has been so rewarding for us, as well as the residents, that we have continued to sing the second Wednesday evening of each month at 7:00 PM. We sing the old familiar church hymns that most folks have grown up with. There are times when folks sing with us and even follow us in their wheelchairs as we sing through the halls. We would love to have more people from St. Paul’s join us!

Our group meets usually the first and third Wednesday of each month unless the weather requires cancellation. The group gathers at Frisch’s in Fern Creek at 8:30 AM. Everyone goes Dutch. We have light interesting conversation, several people bring their favorite handwork and lovely fellowship staying connected with each other. This group was an original St. Alban’s gathering and has blended with St. Paul’s folks to continue the fellowship.
