Every year, our school plans various events for parents to come and participate with their child.  We feel it is important for a child to share their preschool classroom and friends with their parents.  They love to show off their activities, friends, and various projects in their room.  This gives the children ownership over their space and a sense of pride and accomplishment when they are able to share experiences with their parents at “their school”.

New Parent Orientation

New Parent Orientation

Prior to the start of each new school year, we welcome the opportunity to meet for a short time with the parents of students that are new to St. Paul’s Preschool.  This meeting is a review of our school policies and a great chance for you to ask questions about your child’s class or about our program.  This meeting also allows us a chance to discuss what your child may or may not experience during their first few days of preschool.  We want your child to truly LOVE their first school experience, and by partnering with parents we feel we have the best opportunity to make it a joyful experience.

Welcome Day

Welcome Day

Prior to the first day of school, parents are invited to bring their child to our “Welcome Day.”  Students and their parents will have a chance to explore their classroom, meet and chat with the teacher, meet some new friends, and create some special artwork to display in the room together.  We also have a short scavenger hunt that allows the children to explore the school and the playground, ending up at the Director’s office for a special prize.  It is a fun-filled day that we hope will ease the transition of starting preschool.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher conferences are held once a year in the fall.  Parents sign up for a time to come visit the classroom and discuss their child’s goals and progress for the year.  This will allow both parents and teachers to review all developmental assessments completed.

Halloween Trick or Treating

Halloween Trick or Treating

The Halloween Trick or Treating Parade and class parties are held in October.  Parents are invited to dress up in fun, non-scary costumes to hand out treats and trinkets to the trick or treaters.  Classrooms will have games and special snacks to share.  All children will have a chance to visit our “pumpkin patch” on the school grounds and take home their very own special pumpkin.

Christmas Concert

Christmas Concert

Each Christmas season, our little singers and dancers gather together to present a medley of Christmas songs and put on a little play.  It is always a delightful rendition of old favorites with some fun preschool twists!  A reception follows with crafts, refreshments, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus!  Due to the covid pandemic, 2020’s celebration will be a virtual concert that can be shared with family and friends.

Morning with Mom

Morning with Mom

Traditionally held in the spring, each mother (or other special adult) is invited to come and spend some time with their child.  Special art projects, snacks, and a lovely photo opportunity are available.  The children work so hard to present their mom (or other special guest) with a memorable morning and special surprises.

Doughnuts with Dad

Doughnuts with Dad

Traditionally held in the spring, we invite each father (or other special adult) to come and spend some time with their child and enjoy doughnuts.  Additionally, students and their dads (or other special guest) will make some fun projects to be used at our annual Derby Race/Parade event.

Derby Parade/Races

Derby Parade/Races

The week before the Kentucky Derby is a fun time in Louisville, and St. Paul’s Preschool is no exception!  Children wear their previously decorated hats and parade out to our race area for group “stick horse” races.  Families are welcome to come and cheer on their favorite horse and jockey!  Prizes will be given to each racer so everyone goes home a winner!

Graduation For Pre-K

Graduation For Pre-k

This special event is held for our Pre-K students who are moving on to Kindergarten.  The children sing some special songs, perform a musical routine with musical instruments, and then receive their diploma and a treasured gift from the church.  A cake and punch reception is held afterwards.

Family Field Day and Picnic

Family Field Day and Picnic

This fun outdoor event is held on the last day of school for your child.  Parents (or other special guests) are invited to join in on all the games and events for the day.  We challenge families to get active and be healthy! When all the events are finished, we wind down the year with a family picnic.
